Teams at Haida
MILITARY DRUM & BUGLE BAND
Here at Haida, we have a military drum and bugle band that we run throughout the year. Our band is composed of the following instruments: military snare drums, bass drum, cymbals, glockenspiel, Bb trumpets, F Mellophones, and Bb Baritones.
Have no idea how to play any of those instruments? Don't worry! We have senior cadets and adult instructors who have the skills and knowledge to teach you. Come learn how to do band drill, play an instrument, learn band discipline and instruction, and play some fun and entertaining music! We take these skills and perform at the Area and Regional competitions, and in various parades! Here at Haida we make sure the band is the heart and soul of our corps.
DRILL TEAM WITH ARMS
Our drill team with arms consists of 16 members include a team captain. Over the course of the year, our drill team learns about all aspects of drill, discipline, rifle movements, and come together to execute 2 routines for an Area competition. We have been successful at our area competition in the past and have moved on to the regional competition to face drill teams from all around the province. In May of 2019, our drill team with arms placed 2nd in all of Ontario! Join this team to have fun, learn about personal discipline, and work together as a team.
PROVINCIAL SAIL REGATTA
Near the end of June of every year, cadets with sail experience and CAN Sail qualifications (of which you can receive in the sea cadet program for free!) can compete in the Provincial Sail Regatta, hosted in Kingston, ON. Those who are successful at this competition advance to the National Sail Regatta and represent Ontario against some of the best sailors in all of Canada!
